Committee Meeting 6/8/2017

Matt Chao has resigned as Advisor for personal reasons.
Nina to fill spot as Advisor
Frank to fill spot as Secretary
Need a website person - Ryck?
Inky reached out to Duane about being an Advisor but he says he does not have
enough time to fulfill responsibilities of an Advisor but he will continue to
help out with organizing practices at CBI.
The committee has decided to go forward with the site that Kay has made for
Boston United Blind Sailing. We should go ahead and say that this will be the
official site, and add a link to the ABC website to reference it.
Grace, Pauline, Leo, and Christian are going to the Blind Nationals next week
to represent Boston United Blind Sailing.
For guide training this Sunday, there will be Bill, Grace, Marcelo, Pauline,
and Katherine helping train 5 new guides.
Grace will email Bill to find out if he is available for a conference call at
10 on Sunday morning so we can lay out rules and regulations.
Nina will send out emails for practice attendance until the website and e-list
are running.

Mission Statement
Core ideas to put into mission statement:
- Autonomy of blind and visually impaired sailors
- teamwork with sighted guides
- Competitive racing at a high level
- Access to sailing and the greater sailing community
- Role model for the greater blind community
- Inclusivity
Rough draft:
We are a community of blind and visually impaired sailors and sighted guides
working together to sail at a highly competitive level, by:
- Promoting autonomy in sailing through use of the other senses,
- Providing blind access to sailing and the wider sailing community,
and
- Partnering with national and international sailing organizations to
expand the sport of blind sailing.
Rules and Regulations
Categories:
Bylaws - officers of the committee, how they are elected, how long they are in
office, how decisions are made, how often the committee meets
Fundraising - how funds will be allocated, how teams will be chosen to
represent BUBS, how do we handle additional teams?
- additional teams who cannot be funded by BUBS should not be using
the BUBS fundraising platform for their own team but are still representatives
of BUBS at events (if they choose to be).
Code of Conduct - expectations of members of the group
Practices/training - skill level delineations, signing up for practice
Competitions
How do we know if people have signed up for ABC? How are we collecting the
activity fee?
