Hi All,

The June 5 issue of the Sailing Scuttlebutt newsletter had three articles with a connection to Boston Blind Sailing.

Induction Class of 2019 to College Sailing Hall of Fame:

Long-time friend to many of us and sighted tactician of many years for our own Inky, Tufts University Sailing Coach Ken Legler recently received a special award from the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Congratulations, Ken! One of the other inductees is Alyson Leigh Schwerdtfeger of Bentley University, which just happens to be my alma mater-Go Falcons!

Continuing the Tradition for Robie Pierce:

Several of our blind & visually impaired and sighted sailors traveled down to Rye, New York this past weekend to attend the 11th annual Robie Pierce One-Design Regatta for Sailors with Disabilities. Several were quoted in this article, though perhaps not always accurately, so readers beware!

Promoting Blind Sailing:

Our own upcoming Boston Open regatta on July 13 & 14 received a nice plug in this issue (as it also did from Blind Sailing International.) So, People, spread the word far and wide to all blind & visually impaired and sighted skippers wherever they may be in the Wide, Wide World of Sailing! I've heard from some who cannot participate due to scheduling conflicts, so now its time to let me or Andrew know if you are planning to participate! My own team of myself, Barbara, Sol & Denis will be there so how about yours? If you need help putting together a team just let us know! Or, if you will be traveling in from out of town and need a place to lay your head at night we'll help with that, too. It's a very affordable regatta, too, just $80 per team or $20 per person. If you need financial assistance we'll tackle CBI's Executive Director Charlie Zechel on the dock and take his wallet.

Cheers,
Duane
