Hello Leo,
I have decided not to race this season because I am going in for surgery on
6.7.2019 and at some time this summer I am going for a guide dog. Please let
me know when the regatta is in Boston so that I can come and watch it. I plan
on re joining next year if that is alright. Best wishes to all for a safe and
fun sailing season!

Good evening sailors and guides,
First of all, we'd like to congratulate Pauline Dowell and her team for their
third place finish at the Robie Pierce Regatta this past weekend! It was
great to see such a strong Boston showing of five boats this year. A special
shout out to Chris Luca for jumping in a boat with two strangers for her
first away regatta.
This is the first week of the regular season of blind sailing for 2019! Going
forward we'll have advanced racing on Tuesdays at Courageous (starting next
week) for qualified sailors and guides, as well as open practice on Thursdays
at CBI (starting this week).
Thursday night practice is open to all blind and visually impaired sailors
and guides, regardless of sailing level. We will have chalk-talks on land and
run drills on the water focusing on different skills each week.
Tuesday night racing will be open to sailors and guides who can demonstrate
the skills attached, which can be evaluated during a Thursday practice or at
another time arranged with the coaching committee. This skill list (in
progress) has been developed to ensure that we remain welcome on Tuesdays at
Courageous, and for the safety and enjoyment of all participants. Blind
sailors who have not yet demonstrated all required skills may race on
Tuesdays as crew with approved sighted skippers. Sailors and guides will be
responsible for finding their own sailing partners although the coaching
committee will try to help!
Please reply to this email to let us know if you're planning on joining us on
Thursday, and let us know if you're interested in sailing on Tuesdays at
Courageous so we can get you checked out!
Please find attached the 2019 practice schedule and calendar of regattas of
interest.
Your enthusiastic coaches,
Grace and Leo
