Labirders,
After being rained out for both yard birding and work this morning, I
remained inside, then decided to run a few errands around 11:15. On my way
home, as I was turning the corner onto Walnut from Garden, I spotted a
brilliant ad male Scarlet Tanager perched and pecking at something on the
surface of the blacktop. Unfortunately, I did not have the camera handy but
noticed through the rear view that the bird was still there, even though my
wheels had passed a mere foot from it. I ran into the apt and grabbed the
camera, then sloshed back through the flooded driveway, only to find that
it had flown. I savored the earlier moment. The vivid red and contrasting
black wings on the dull, blackish pavement in the bright overcast light was
almost breathtaking!
Cheers,
Terry
