BIRD STUDY GROUP
I stayed around home yesterday. The Cotile Recreation Area Patch includes the 
area around Cotile Lake including the recreation area. The area can be accessed 
from I-49 at Exits 103 and 99. Hoyt Road ends on the west side of the lake at 
T. L. James timber land. The road was open through to Red Church Road a few 
years ago when a bridge was being replaced at the causeway. A friend had seen a 
roadrunner there. When I go to the end of the road, I play roadrunner on my 
BirdJam and I "think" I heard one responding in the distance but it was too 
hard to tell as the wind was ruffling the trees. I also had what I decided was 
an odd sounding White-eyed Vireo doing a flycatcher immiation Fitz Buu. 

Did not get to Browns Creek Bottoms with Prothonotary Warbler, Acadian 
Flycatcher and Louisiana Waterthrush plus other possible nesting warblers and 
vireos. But did find a shrike at one of the two known nesting areas in the 
"patch" plus a Red-headed Woodpecker, a hard bird to find in 2013.

It was way to windy to try to go out on the lake and find an eagle. None flew 
by any of my vantage points.
