 11/23- George Rd andvicinity.......

George Rd, Caddo, US-LA
Nov 23, 2012 7:25 AM - 10:15 AM
Protocol: Traveling
7.6 mile(s)
Comments:     With Charlie Lyon. 2 observers, 2 hrs, 50 mins (0725-1015) 7.3
miles. 57 degrees, cloudy/light rain, calm beginning., 63 degrees cloudy, light
N ending. Charlie and I began on 3049 just South of the southern confluence of
George Rd with 3049. We covered George Rd, ~.6 mile of Whit Cavett Sibley, then
from there, stopping sporadically along 3049 n to a little over a mile S of
Sentell's southern confluence with 3049. We thoroughly covered approximately
5.5 miles of the area, only adding those on wires/plainly visible, etc, during
distant moves with less stops along 3049. The habitat on George Rd is fairly
dry and open, though somewhat riparian being sandwiched between Red River and
an oxbow to the West. The area is mostly comprised of both plowed and fallow
cropland interspersed with tree-lined fencerows, cattle pastures, pecan
orchards and small patches of mixed woods. Two separate Bewick's Wren and
multiple Harris's Sparrow were best sp
for the early portion of the day. Finding two White-breasted Nuthatches in
cattle country along the river, then locating another along Sentell later in
the morning, was the single most amazing note for this morning.
