Mrs. Ashton Retires

It is with mixed feelings that I tell you the news that Mrs Ashton has
decided to retire from teaching at the end of this school year. It is sad to
lose such a respected, dedicated and enthusiastic member of the teaching
staff. However, we sincerely thank her and wish her well for a relaxing and
fulfilling retirement.

Mrs. Ashton - Thank you!!

Details of how you can thank Mrs. Ashton ? and wish her well - as well as
news as to who will be teaching Year 4 next year will be given to you as
soon as things have been sorted!! Watch this space?

An Early reminder?

A week on Friday we break up for our half-term holiday, following which the
teachers have 3 days of INSET (In Service Training). Therefore the children
will be breaking up on Friday 22nd May (at 3.15pm) and returning on Thursday
4th June at 8.55am.

Broad Oak Services (Care Club) ? Holiday Club Booking Slip Attached

Just a reminder that Care Club is once again running our very successful
Holiday Club. It will take place from the 26th May to 3rd June inclusive.
This includes the May ½ term and the three INSET days which follow the
school break. The cost is £17 per day, £9 per half day, but not including
trips (8.30am-1.30pm or 12.30pm- 5.30pm). All Broad Oak children are invited
to join us. Children who have cousins or other family members are invited to
ask them to come along and join us at our invitation; however, Broad Oak
children do come first. All children who attend our Holiday Club have to be
of school age and must book in advance.

As with all Holiday Clubs, parents must agree to the terms and conditions of
our Care Club.

The activities that we are doing are included on the Holiday Club poster
(these can be seen around school and on the school website!!) Book early to
get a place!!

DISCO ? THIS FRIDAY 15th MAY 2009 (see below for times!!)

Tickets are still on sale from school priced at £2 each.

Penwortham Gala ? Saturday, 15th June ? ?Noah?s Ark?

We would like to clarify one or two queries we have received ? if your
child/children would like to take part in the Gala, you will need to provide
them with their costumes and decide with their friend?s parents which animal
they are going to portray ? as long as they dress as the same animal, the
costumes do not have to be identical. The Gala Committee is making
everything for the lorry so your help in providing the costumes is very much
appreciated. Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Oliver if you have any
other questions.

Date of Next Gala Committee Meeting ? Tuesday, 19 May at 7.00pm

A Request from Mrs Barker and Class 3

If you have any children?s comics in good condition which you no longer
want, it would be very much appreciated if you could send these into school
for use in Class 3.

School Lunch ? Themed Lunches ? Week Beginning 18th May
Please ensure that dinner money is paid on Friday if you want dinners next
week. Only £9.00 per week. Money should be given, via your child, to their
teacher in an envelope marked ?Dinner Money? with their name, class and
amount.

Did you know?

If your child knows their 1, 2, 5 and 10 times tables ? bearing in mind that
6 x 7 is the same as 7 x 6?they only have to learn another 21 facts in order
to learn all their tables up to 10 x 10. That?s just one-fact-a-day for
three weeks!! Then they?ll know them all!!
