[Bristol-Birds] late report - Elizabethton Club field trip to Washington Co.

Last Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, the Elizabethton (Herndon) Chapter of TOS held 
a field trip to western Washington County, TN.  Participants were Dianne 
Draper, Jacki Hinshaw, Don Holt, Reece Jamerson, Rick Knight, Joe McGuiness, 
Mike 
Poe, Brookie & Jean Potter, and Gary Wallace.  The ten club members met in 
chilly temperatures (26 degrees F) at 8 am in Jonesborough and carpooled to 
various hotspots in the area, including Bush Hog Pond, the exotic animal farm, 
Keebler Road, and Stockton Road.  Several target species were found, including 
Loggerhead Shrike, Red-headed Woodpecker, Peregrine Falcon, Ostrich, and Yak.  
Big 
misses were Lapland Longspur, Eurasian Collared Dove, and Giraffe.  A bonus 
for those who stayed the latest was an albino Red-tailed Hawk on Snapp Bridge 
Road who posed graciously for a close-up driveby.  A tentative total for the 
day was 46 native or naturalized bird species observed:
