I attempted to take a photo of the fledgling Red-tailed Hawk in the nest at Elk Garden but he would not cooperate. His mother came back to the area and circled the nest. I think she told him to keep his head down. She landed in a tree overhead and kept staring at me. As I turned to leave there were 2 Black-billed Cuckoos sitting very still in a tree across the road. This was my first chance at a cuckoo with a camera. I was also able to take photos of the following At Elk Garden - Common Yellowthroat Yellow Warbler Angry Mother Red-tailed Hawk Black Vulture The Loop - Solitary Sandpiper Ovenbird Warbling Vireo Savannah Sparrow Field Sparrow Turkey Vulture Elk Garden - Blue-winged Tel Home - Azalea bush with butterflies The photos are at http://www.pbase.com/opiehunter/april_29_russell_co Tom Tom & Laverne Hunter Russell County Bird Club Lebanon, VA
