It is with deep sadness that I report the passing of Wallace Coffey today at
noon
following an extended illness. Arrangements have not been made at this time,
but that information will be passed along when available.
Wallace was a life-long resident of Bristol, TN, and a well known birder and
naturalist. He founded the TN-bird listserv and its predecessor Valley Birds,
as well as the local Bristol-birds list. He was a former Editor of the TOS
journal,
The Migrant, among many other accomplishments.
He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts go out to the family and close friends.

there was a paragraph in memory of Wallace Coffey. Why didn't someone post
an announcement of his death on this list? I even emailed someone a couple
of weeks ago and asked about Wallace but received no reply. The last I
heard was that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer but nothing further.
I am amazed that at least something wasn't mentioned on the list.
