There was a prior count of 14 at South Holston Lake
on 29 Jan 2014. However, the report below is still
remarkable for anywhere in Tenn. These represent
two of the three highest counts of Surf Scoter in the state,
the other being of 13 on 11 Dec 2001 at Center Hill Lake,
DeKalb Co.

12 SURF SCOTERS As far as I know, this is a record
high count for the species in Northeast Tennessee. The
previous high record it thought to be 9.
