Kingsport City Fire Inspector Rack Cross telephoned today (4/26) at 9:10 a.m., while enroute to one of his job duites, saying he had just then seen what appeared to be four (4) Snowy Egrets standing in the South Holston River. The birds were directly in front of the historic Netherlands Inn on Netherlands Inn Road in Kingsport. He was unable to take time to stop and determine if the birds had yellow feet. Rack would like for anyone who can get there to try and get a positive ID. This is a rare species in Northeast Tennessee during spring migration. Confirmation would be a valued contribution to our knowledge of regional aviafauna. Let's go birding......
