[Bristol-Birds] Shorebirds and Chuck-will's-widow

Great Lakes Pond (across from Elizabethton Municipal Airport)
HWY 91
and
Heather Lane
near Milligan College
both in Carter Co., TN
.
Kami and Sam Cross and me followed a tip from Tom McNeil on some shorebirds
at the Great Lakes Pond off HWY 91 in Elizabethton this evening. Our tally
included:
Least Sandpipers - 5
Solitary Sandpiper - 1
Spotted Sandpiper - 2
missing our targeted Semipalmated Sandpiper
.
From there we traveled to Heather Lane near Milligan College and just past 9
PM we heard a serenade of Chuck-will's-widow calls. There were at least two
different calling birds as they had us surrounded. Dr. Fred Alsop had told
about
the birds calling in this area.
