Observed all species reported yesterday except no Buff-breasted and only 1 Wilson's Phalarope. Shorebird numbers somewhat lower. Most were observed from shore. The shorebirds can be viewed from the pull-off along the railroad tracks and the gulls from the end by the railroad bridge. Buff-breasted may still be present but most effort was spent finding and re-finding the Ruff. Thanks to Rick for the report. A few photos from long range of the Ruff and gulls. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dkirschke/ David Kirschke Johnson City, TN --- On Sun, 8/28/11, Richard Knight <rknight8@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Richard Knight <rknight8@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [Bristol-Birds] Ruff still present To: "bristol-birds" <bristol-birds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, "tn-bird" <tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Sunday, August 28, 2011, 10:02 AM 28 Aug 2011 Rankin Bottoms, Cocke Co. David Kirschke called to report that the RUFF found yesterday is still present this morning. He also saw at least 1 Wilson's Phalarope. He had not reached the area where the gulls were concentrated.
