Gil Derouen, Reece Jamerson and Bryan Stevens birded for about an hour on Tuesday afternoon (May 2) at Rock Creek Park near Erwin in Unicoi County.

Warblers included: Northern Parula, Black-and-White, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Blackburnian, Hooded, Ovenbird and Louisiana Waterthrush, which gave a very tentative song. We could not locate a Swainson's Warbler.

We also enjoyed a great extended look at a Veery (a season first for the three of us) as well as Blue-headed Vireo and Red-headed Vireo. Other birds included American Robin, Blue Jay and Chimney Swift.

The park also offered an assortment of wildflowers, including Wild Ginger and Showy Orchis.

Hampton, TN
