Rankin Bottoms, Cocke county, Douglas Lake elevation: 987.4 ft., by canoe

It's that time of year when the lake rises into Rankin Bottoms, bringing in
thousands of carp, easy prey for the Bald Eagles gathering there. Most of them
were perched this evening in willows at the south end of the embayment.
