I just bought a new scope and recommend you check out the Cornell spotting
scope review (Scope Quest 2008:
http://www.allaboutbirds.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=1039) and the Result
Chart
(http://www.livingbird.org/netcommunity/bbimages/lb/pdf/ScopeChart2008.pdf ;).
Hope this helps.

Please post replies on list if you don't mind. I would like to know also!
Thanks,
Anita

Looking for advice on spotting scopes.  Such as magnification, eye relief,
etc.  My husband wants something he can spy on deer with and I would like for
it to serve double duty for birding.  Need something of good quality yet
affordable.  Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!
