Thanks to Rick Knight for the ground truth of mile marker 5 farther upslope
than Burbank near Roan Mountain (elev. probably 3500 - 4000 ft). It was
also nice to get his Carter County records near Elizabethton, TN. Those
may be the first country records for the species.

Kevin Hamed shared one he had at Elk Garden, Grayson County, VA at 4,400' in
2011.

Cathy Spencer and Anita Huffman have sent records for the species near Rugby
in Grayson County and find them rather common at 3000 feet. Anita has a
3600 ft. elevation record for one near the entrance to Grayson Highlands
State Park on US 58. Thanks to all of you.

It is 13 miles from Roan Mtn village to Carver's Gap. Mile marker 5 is

further upslope than Burbank, probably 3500 - 4000 ft elevation.

The only Fox Squirrels I have seen in Carter Co were near Elizabethton.
