Six members of the Herndon Bird Club ( Joe McGuiness, Kim Stroud, David
Gardner, Vern Maddux, John Hay, and Roy Knispel) participated in the
nightjar survey in the Fish Springs area last night (June 13) Results:

Northern Saw-Whet Owl 1
Weather permitting, two nightjar surveys will be conducted by the club
on Friday, June 17: Cherokee and Milligan-Leaders: Milligan: Joe
McGuiness and Kim Stroud Cherokee: Don Holt and Dianne Draper
Meet at the Smokehouse BBQ in Elizabethton at 7:30 pm to eat or be there
by 8:30 pm to just participate in a survey (Going from Johnson City or
from Elizabethton on U. S. Hwy 321, turn off (north) on Hwy 359 and
follow Hwy 359--the Smokehouse BBQ will be on your right almost
immediately.)
Participants will car pool for the surveys but will not leave their cars
at the Smokehouse BBQ. For the Cherokee survey, cars will be left at a
spot near the Cherokee School, For the Milligan survey, cars will be
left at Milligan College. If you plan to come to participate in a
survey, but not to eat, meet at the Smokehouse BBQ by 8:30--participants
in each survey will proceed to the survey area, park cars and form the
car pools.
