Finally got good looks at a few NIghthawks last evening. Some were close
enough for me to see the wing white patches. There were several flocks
of 30 - 50 birds that were too far away for a clean look, but they flew
differently than the hundreds of Tree Swallows or Starlings that were
moving around. Everything was generally going north -> northeast. Lots
of bugs in my fields so the swallows ought to be full.
