Something similar happened to me a few years back here in Va. It turned out my mystery bird was an exotic that had escaped from someone's home or a pet shop. I don't know if this is the case with your bird, but it is certainly interesting! I was able to get some photographs of the bird today. The opinions of what species the bird is have been diverse. i beleive it is a leucistic sparrow, possibly a Fox Sparrow. I would appreciate any comments, opinions, or suggestions as to the species. I have posted photos to the pbase at the following link. http://www.pbase.com/opiehunter/mystery_bird Tom Tom & Laverne Hunter Russell County Bird Club Lebanon, VA
