Cathy and I stopped at Musick's Campground this afternoon. There were a
good number of gulls on the far shore. We estimated 800-1000 Ring-billed
Gulls, 18 Bonaparte's Gulls, and 2 Herring Gulls. We were also lucky in
finding a single Eared Grebe fairly close.
We also had one gull that appeared to possibly be a Franklin's Gull. It
was noticeably smaller than the Ring-billed Gulls, darker blue-gray back,
with black across the back of the head/cap extending into the eye. We
tried to take pictures/video through the spotting scope, but I'm not sure
they would help much (although you can make out the black cap). I've seen
Bigfoot videos that are actually better!
