Observation start time: 07:45:00
Observation end time: 14:45:00
Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Jennifer Meade

Observers: George Larkin, John Clonce, Ken Turner, Larry McDaniel,
Shane Williams, Susan Greear

Visitors:
Cassandra Sweetman, Daniel Salyer, Shane Williams, Greg and Jessie
Williams, Kayla and Thomas Gilliam, Sierra Steinacker, Jamie Sanchez, Dave
Kirschke. Larry McDaniel and Ken Turner, and Shane Williams spent time
assisting as observers a portion of the day (space above was limited for
listing during correct hours). Thanks to all visitors and observers
although today was rather unproductive for hawk count. We appreciate your
help!

Weather:
Cap cloud on top of Clinch Mountain which lingered most of day. Visibility
VERY LIMITED. Cap cloud dispersed somewhat by 2pm, but very hazy. Viewing
conditions were extremely difficult. By 3:45, cloud covering atop mountain
returned, therefore counters called it a day, unproductive to say the least
for counting migrants!

Raptor Observations:
Raptors were ….either not moving or not visible to us.

Non-raptor Observations:
Several warblers flitted about among the trees on the mountain top early in
the day. During the 3 pm hour, a kettel of 30+ vultures was observed to the
south near the limit of binocular view today. Note in an earlier kettle of
vultures an unknown eagle was observed. WCYB News Center 5 reporter,
Cassandra Sweetman, climbed the mountain with friend, Daniel Salyer. She
videoed footage, interviewed observers, took numerous notes, and indicated
that a feature story would air tonight at 6pm and 11pm on local news
channel 5. One hummingbird was observed during the 3 pm hour.

Predictions:
Birds are ….expected to have diminished flight if weather forecast of rain
develops as predicted for the area.
