An immature Little Blue Heron was feeding in the shallow water and tall
grass
at Rooty Branch Wetlands in eastern Sullivan County, TN late Sunday
afternoon,
12 July 2015. It was found by Wallace Coffey, Brookie Potter and Jean
Potter.
Jean and Wallace took several photos. This small heron seldom shows up in
the five-county area of Northeast Tennessee and is always a treat. July
records
are more scarce so its appearance adds to the excitement. A much larger
Great Blue Heron was wading a few yards away. This site is just as you turn
on
Lakeview Dock Road near the Bristol Tennessee water filtration plant in
