Is there any information on hummingbird populations and their activity after breeding in our area? I had a fair number of hummingbirds during spring migration showing up feeding and then moving on. Then a few pairs stayed around during breeding season with a few individuals showing up at my feeders on a regular basis. About the last week of July activity picked up dramatically with any where from 6 to 20 or more zooming around fighting over the feeders constantly from dawn to dusk. Sometimes I see mostly mature males dominating the feeders, sometimes mostly immature males, other times females chasing & feeding. Are these still locally bred birds and are the same birds showing up daily or are these birds moving in and out of our area and if so, where are they moving in and out from? Does anyone have any helpful information? Thanks, K.
