Area Birders,
My wife and I checked out Poplar Gap Park near Grundy today to see if the flock
of resident Horned Larks were still there, in spite of the construction going
on in the area. We found 6 Horned Larks. This is a drop from the 22 that were
there 4 years ago. Each year in the park there are more structures being built
with more land involved, and the lark numbers continue to drop. A Horned Lark
photo can be seen at http://www.pbase.com/mayhorn/image/69181219

We also found a Blue-headed Vireo, 6 Eastern Meadowlarks, 12 Killdeer, 2
Eastern Bluebirds, 1 Cedar Waxwing, and 2 Red-tailed Hawks.
