The regular March meeting of the Herndon Bird Club will be Tuesday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Science Building (regular location) at Milligan College. Agenda Items include forming a nominating committee for officers for next year, finish banquet planning details , and planning a field trip. The presentation will be given by club member Fred Alsop, Professor of Biological Sciences at ETSU. The title is The Elements of Bird Identification The talk will consist of a PowerPoint presentation covering the fundamentals of bird identification for beginners and skilled birders. Topics to be covered include the basics of bird identification in the field by sight and vocalizations, behavior, habitat, seasonal occurrence, birder-do's, stuff to take along, and a word about field trips. A question and answer period will follow. Whether you are a just-getting-interested birdwatcher or an experienced or expert birder, you will find this talk interesting and helpful. We invite young and old, novice, expert, or in-between, club member or not, to attend and enjoy the presentation. Some club members will meet at Bellicino's in Johnson City at 5:30 p.m. for dinner and socializing before the meeting. Bellicino's is in Johnson City on South Roan in the Food City parking lot.
