The Herndon Bird Club's annual summer bird count will be held this Saturday,
June 8. The count covers all of Carter County. Group leaders, areas and group
participants as I know now are as follows:
Tom McNeil, Cathy Myers: Hampton, Dennis Cove, Lower Watauga Lake to Little
Stoney Creek
Joe McGuiness, Kim Stroud: Walnut Mtn, area east of 19E and south of Hwy 321.
Kathy Noblet
Bryan Stevens, Brookie and Jean Potter: Wilbur Lake, Holston Mtn. (Stoney
Creek, Panhandle Rd.)
Rick Knight, Jim D. Anderson: Roan Mtn., Hampton Creek Cove, Ripshin
Glen Eller, Roy Knispel: Watauga, Sycamore Shoals Dr., Biltmore, the Laurels,
Sycamore Shoals State Park, Elizabethton Linear Walkway and SW Carter Co.
Harry Lee Farthing, Jerry Bevins, Mary Anna Wheat.
If you would like to participate in the count and don't have a group to work
with, contact the group leader or contact Rick Knight (423-483-4204,
rknight8@xxxxxxxxxxxxx) or myself to get contact information for the group
leader to find out the meeting place and starting time for the group.
Compilation of the count results will be done Sunday, June 9. Meet at the
picnic tables at Sycamore Shoals State Park in Elizabethton at 3:00 p.m.
