Observed 8 Great Blue Herons perched on nests at the rookery located just below
the Ft Patrick Henry Dam along Ft. Henry Dr. In Kingsport, TN. There are
approximately 30 nests total in two trees.

Also observed several mallards and one small duck that I was unable to I.d.
This duck was within feet of the base of the dam and remained there during my
15 minute visit. The duck appears to have either an injured wing that is
causing it to stick up at the shoulder or some type of entanglement. My eyes
and the low light made it impossible for me to determine. It seemed odd that it
was hanging out in the muddy, debris filled waters.

On my way out of the TVA property I spotted a Northern Flicker and a
Red-Bellied Woodpecker in the wood lot along the access road.
