The bird is singing vigorously from mid-level in dense spruce foliage and is a devil to see well. I've been chasing him for an hour and he seems to prefer the right side of the road as you're going up in the vicinity of the "Slow Fee Station Ahead" sign. According to Harry LeGrand this is the first summer record for NC. Closest regular breeding site is in northern WV. Hopefully, he'll stick around for awhile. J.
