From: Tommy Edwards To: TN-Birds Sent: September 21, 2010 08:48 Subject: [TN-Bird] Whimbrel on Big Bald Mtn. TN Location: Big Bald Mtn, North Cherokee WMA, TN Dates: Sept 16 thru PresentFor the past week, a whimbrel has been hanging out on Big Bald on the Tennessee side of the Applach. Trail. (elv 5400 feet) The bird is feeding, flying and doesn't seem to mind the hikers in the area. I have been banding passerines up there for the past few days and saw it every day. Access was made from the Wolf Laurel Resort via, the Cherokee forest service access road.
