I have 2 very light colored (brownish) Juncos at my feeder this week in
Louisville, TN Blount Co. They appear to be juveniles or female dark-eyes
without the upper streaking on the breast.

Ken Hale’s post about the “Oregon” Junco at his feeder is an interesting
recall. I saw that bird each of the two years it came to his home, north of
Bluff City on Sharps Hollow Rd. in Sullivan Co, TN. My recall is that Dr. Lee
R. Herndon and Herb Nunley captured the bird with a mist net and banded it. I
believe the banding was the second year when the bird was there 27 Jan to 9 Mar
1973. Glen Eller was a front-row birder in those days and he probably has
memory of that – likely was there when it was banded. I do remember a lot of
birders coming to see it. As far as I know, the first Tennessee state record
for the species was March 1960 at Greeneville, TN. A bunch of birders were
able to see a bird coming to a feeder in December 1962 on a Knoxville TOS
Chapter field trip to a home 10 miles south of Kingston, TN. Fun stuff !

To the best of my recollection, and Wallace can confirm the dates, my parents
had an Oregon Junco at their feeders in Bluff City in 1972 and 73. I think it
repeated in back to back years. I was in high school and folks came from all
over the state to see it. Of course back then, it was a species unto itself
and a life/state bird for lots of folks.
