I'm pleased to report that the FOS European Starlings did not make an appearance at my home on Simerly Creek Road in Hampton until Saturday, April 26. This is a little later than normal. European Starling is strictly a summer nesting bird (so far) at my home. They do not stick around for the winter. Of course, they arrived just in time to be included on the Spring Bird Count by the Herndon Chapter of TOS. I am sure four additional starlings will make a big difference for?the total of this?bird on the chapter's count. A more welcome (but still surprising) arrival was the FOS Indigo Bunting, also on Saturday, April 26. The surprise? The first arrival was a female Indigo Bunting. I cannot recall ever seeing a female Indigo Bunting prior to the arrival of some males at my feeders. Bryan Stevens, Hampton, TN
