Cocke County (C): Dutch Bottoms (DB), Rankin Wildlife Management Area (RWMA), and Rankin Bridge;

Hamblen County (H): Leeper's Ferry Road (alongside Nolichuckey River approximately 0.75 mile upstream from its mouth);

Jefferson County (J): Douglas Lake on north side of J.M. Walters Bridge alongside Highway 25-E

Yesterday Dianne Draper, Don Holt, Jim Holt, Alice Loftin, and I traveled to upper Douglas Lake in the area of Dutch Bottoms and Rankin Bottoms. Since water levels are still high, we had access only to limited shorebird habitat, and we were further limited by a rain shower that lasted an hour and twenty minutes while we were at RWMA. Nonetheless we found a few things of note (these numbers are from my notes and represent undercounting in some cases):

Double-crested Cormorant (68 RWMA, 2 J);
Great Blue Heron (5 RWMA, 2 J);
Great Egret (53 RWMA and DB, 6 H, 5 J);
Little Blue Heron (3 H, 2 RWMA);
Green Heron (3 RWMA);
Black-crowned Night-Heron (2 RWMA);
Wood Duck (8 RWMA);
Blue-winged Teal (7 J, 2 H);
Osprey (2 RWMA and RB);
Greater Yellowlegs (2 J, 1 RWMA);
Lesser Yellowlegs (RWMA);
Solitary Sandpiper (1 H);
Spotted Sandpiper (1 RWMA);
Pectoral Sandpiper (1 J);
Ring-billed Gull (13 J);
Caspian Tern (10 J--an unusually high count for this species in northeast TN);
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (1 H):
Eastern Kingbird (2 J);
Northern Rough-winged Swallow (4 C);
Blue Grosbeak (1 H).
