 Two Black-crowned Night-Herons
have spent three days this week
 roosting in low trees over
 Beaver Creek in downtown Bristol
 Tennessee. The birds are juveniles.

They have created a small spectacle
as several curious people have come
to the parking lot beside Boy's Bicycle
Shop on 7th Street just one-half
block off State Street. Some folks are
 bringing cameras and cellphone
cameras to get photos of the interesting
birds. They do not appear to be shy.

Hal Boy said they were first discovered
Monday of this week. The species has been recorded on most Bristol
Christmas Bird Counts for about the past decade. Sullivan County has
a notable wintering population in the western part of the county along the
South Fork Holston River. Few have been seen in winter in the eastern
area of Sullivan.
