Twenty members of the Bristol Bird Club were present
Tuesday (18 May) to vote on elected leadership for
the 2010-2011 year. Those elected take office at
the club's annual picnic set for July.

David Worley of Lebanon, VA was elected to an
unprecedented sixth term. In the club's 60-year history,
there have been several elected for three terms, four for
four terms and only Worley for a fifth term. He is presently
the 1st Vice President and leading the club since the
resignation of the President on 1 Feb 2010.

Dr. Don Leech of Kingsport will serve as 1st Vice-President
and Rick Knight of Johnson City 2nd Vice-President. He
will be incharge of field trips for the coming year.

Diana Worley was again elected Secretary and Janice
Martin as Treasurer. Wilma Boy will be the Assistant
Treasure. Wallace Coffey was elected Curator and
Richard Lewis as Statistician.

Dr. John Moyle, announced that BBC will have a field trip
Saturday to Breaks Interstate Park on the Virginia-Kentucky
border. He will post details on Bristol-Birds Net no later
than Wednesday.

Worley reported that the BBC weekend for International
Migratory Bird Day at Natural Tunnel State Park was
another success and thanked the many participants.

Dr. Roy Knispel reported that the seven American White
Pelicans were seen at South Holston Lake Tuesday morning
and Coffey said he had a telephone report that they were
there at 5 p.m.

Coffey presented a 95-slide PowerPoint program on The
Natural History of Steele Creek Park. He put the slides
and program together when it was learned at noon that
the program chair was in Arizona and had become confused
about the date, thinking the club meets next week.

Michele Sparks, a board member of the Friends of Steele
Creek Nature Center and Park, invited everyone to join
the friends group. She also said that she and fellow board
member Ellen Parker (also a BBC member) were setting
out Sunday to begin the first leg of hiking the 25 miles of
marked trails in Steele Creek Park. She invited anyone
who wanted to join them on any part of the hikes to
contact either Ellen or herself.

Those in attendance (* indicates persons having dinner
at Mad Creek Restaurant before the meeting) included:
Dave Worley, Diana Worley, Jenifer Kennedy, Roy
Knispel*, Jo Ann Detta*, Michele Villeneneuve, Michele
Sparks, Faye Wagers, Wallace Coffey*, Carolyn Coffey*,
Wilma Boy, Karen Quesenberry*, Ruth Clark, Mary Clark,
Mary Erwin*, Judy Roach*, Charles Powell, John Moyle,
Marty Huber* and Lois Cox.

The club's next meeting is the third Tuesday in June
and the annual picnic is set for Saturday, 10 July, at
Steele Creek Park.
