American Bittern - at the edge of reed bed at upper end of our cove - what
a find!
We watched bird for about 30 minutes - what a view! Bird drifting slowly
into tall reeds in the fading daylight.
The long-striped neck and dark malar plainly evident

Other highlights from the lake this evening:

  Pied-billed Grebes - 8-10
  Double-crested Cormorants - 30
Great Blue Heron - didn't count tonight - I was preoccupied
  Canada Geese
  Wood Duck - 4
  Mallards
  Gadwall - 1
  Blue-winged Teal - 4
  Green-winged Teal - 2
  Redhead - 4
  Lesser Scaup - 4
  Ring-necked Duck - 2
  American Coots - 30+
  Tree Swallows - 100s
Eastern Phoebes - 4 (I believe they may nest under the dock)
  Cedar Waxwings
