They're back.Two European Starlings were on the utility wires at home on Simerly Creek Road in Hampton this morning (April 9). This is about typical for their annual spring return.
Starlings have not, so far, ever attempted to spend the winter in my yard, but they do return each spring. Spring and summer numbers never usually exceed 6-8 birds. I guess it depends on their nesting success.
