The Randall will be filled with Centennial hops to add an amazing fresh hop component to this beer. The Randall hop filter was invented by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and produced such a potent hop character in their IPA, that it was said to make tooth enamel tingle - the device was thus named "Randall the Enamel Animal." * FROM EMBERS GRILL BREWER JULIE BAGGETT On Thursday, Sept 28 at 7 PM, Embers Grill (3655 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta) will be premiering our fall offering - American Red Ale on gravity-feed firkin. Look for it on draft and in four packs. http://www.terrapinbeer.com/beers/hoppy.monster.php * FROM MERCHANT DU VIN IMPORTERS As fall reminds us that winter will follow, Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome Ale arrives soon in stores and restaurants throughout the United States. For 17 years, this rich amber ale has set the benchmark for winter seasonals: creamy, complex, and with the incomparable Samuel Smith signature of great balance and refinement. In England, "winter warmers" -- beers of deep richness and higher alcohol -- have heralded the cold season for generations. Winter Welcome is wonderful with roasted and smoked foods, fresh pears and apples, even with cake and eggnog. Samuel Smith's Old Brewery, in Tadcaster, Yorkshire, was established in 1758. The hard crystalline brewing water is still drawn from the original well sunk over 200 years ago, and the yeast strain has remained unchanged for over 100 years. All Samuel Smith ales are still fermented in stone "Yorkshire Squares," the traditional open-topped vessels made of locally-quarried slate. * OTHER NOTABLE BEER EVENTS - Saturday, 9/30 - Come dine and drink at Atlanta's 5 Seasons Brewing (Roswell Road at I-285 in The Prado) as they celebrate Octoberfest 2006. 5 Seasons will tap BrewMeister Glen Sprouse's long-awaited FestBier, and Chef Dave will present a full range of authentic German menu specialties.
