If this is budokai tenkaichi:
X: Dash
Circle: Guard/deflect
Triangle: Blast
Square: Punch
l1: Camera
L2: Charge chi and use your big attacks in combination with triangle. Also hold
down to dash forward more powerfully, or go into a controlled speed flight.
R1: Fly up.
R2: Fly down.
That's about it. Accept you have to move with the joystick, not the d pad.
