You can't download the Nimac books because Bookshare won't let you so you
don't have to be concerned. Get on Cindy's list and you won't have to worry
about them any longer. You have to have an IEP that mentions your book in
order to get it.

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] tiny bit of confusion

Hi, all, I'm a little confused. I was under the impression that we could
download any book in the collection we wanted. With the discussion of NIMAC
books, does this mean that any and all textbooks are prohibited for people
who have not registered as a student and/or a teacher qualified to handle
the textbooks, and if this is indeed the case, how does one distinguish
between the two when we browse the titles that have been added every two to
seven days? Should we automatically exclude it if it sounds like it is
educational and is used in a possible class or other educational setting, or
am I missing a piece or two of the puzzle because I'm new. I love to learn
and am impressed to see all this textbook material available as I went
through school with very little braille, particularly in elementary and high
school, some braille in middle and high school, and tapes for middle school,
high school, and a bit of college. I read textbooks if I want to know
something and this is how I gained my main knowledge of medical terminology,
and I taught myself at home and filled in the gaps the class left by
teaching myself at home, an unofficial home school, and for that matter,
what about parents and students who are home schooling or are being home
schooled? Are they excluded from the textbooks because they're not in a
traditional school setting? Thanks for clearing that up for me, and what is
the restricted nimac code to watch out for when doing searches or browsing
so we won't accidentally download prohibited and/or restricted material?
Thanks and have a blessed day.
