Hi, Brenda and anyone who didn't see previous posts. Here is the URL that explains NIMAC: http://www.nimac.us/ Here's the first paragraph of the article: "President George W. Bush signed into law the new Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) at the end of 2004. Several changes will be implemented through this reauthorized legislation that will have a positive impact on how and when blind and other print disabled students throughout the country receive their textbooks in the accessible formats they need, including braille and large print." The donated books are available only to students in grade K - 12--unfortunately for our college students. Bookshare is also working to get books donated by publishers. At the moment it seems only HarperCollins and a publisher of textbooks--I forget the name--donate so far. Those are the books added with the Publishers Quality rating. The HarperCollins books are so far only downloadable in Daisy, though bookshare is working to make them convertable so they can be downloadable in BRF also. If I've got something wrong in this explanation, I'm sure I'll be corrected. smile HTH G.Cindy ***WISH LIST (CALLED REQUESTED ADDITIONS TO THE BOOKSHARE COLLECTION)IS AVAILABLE AT http://people.delphiforums.com/jamiecalton/Book_Requests.htm http://www.friendsofbookshare.org/ http://studentpages.alma.edu/~07jmyate/book_requests.htm A LIST OF BOOKS CURRENTLY BEING SCANNED IS AVAILABLE AT http://people.delphiforums.com/jamiecalton/scanning.html Jake's site for useful links: http://www.jbrownell.com/bkslinks.html ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals?
