Oh! Wow! This is terrible news. Ann has been a fixture and force within our
community. I met her briefly at one of the conventions years ago and really
was impressed with her. She has remained a trusted source in my life through
her efforts here and in other places. Will definitely keep her in our
prayers and thoughts here..

At one point, many months ago, she mentioned an illness to me. It was a
serious kind of cancer, although I can't remember what the exact diagnosis
was that she named. I remember being amazed at how she mentioned such a
serious illness so casually. It seemed obvious to me that she didn't want to
discuss it, nor did she seem to welcome comments on it. So I didn't comment.
But for that reason, this announcement is not a surprise.
