If I remember correctly, Jimmie Stewart was an Air Force pilot. Some were in the entertainment branch. Hemingway and some other famous authors were ambulance drivers during WWI and the Spanish Civil war. The only person I remember reading about whose career was adversely affected was a Black man who was dancer, I believe, or maybe a singer, but I can't remember who it was. There was, of course, Mohammed Ali, formerly known as Cassius Clay, whose career was temporarily halted when he chose jail instead of the army, but he survived that nicely. smile Cindy --- Monica Willyard <rhyami@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Cindy, thanks for clarifying the timeline of when > and how our young men > were drafted.
