Hello listers and aph staff.

Please bear with me as I try to write down a description of a weird
problem
with new bookport.
Fir
st of all, I'm running windows xp home edition service pac 2. This is
one
of two new book ports I received in the mail recently. My first Book
Port
is working fine. Today I hooked up one of the new ones and updated the

hardware and software. I was able to put some books and music in as
well as
braille in notes. However, the machine is acting strange. It will
play and
then when I stop and let the machine shut down with the 2 beeps, then I
push
buttons and nothing happens. After pushing buttons then maybe 30 to 45

seconds later I'll hear just a little static in the headset and the
Book
Port will work again. In one of these "periods" or "times" that it is
not
working I can try to connect it to the computer and get the message
that
there is an error with the usb device and to try plugging it in again.
If I
wait for that little bit of static in the headset then I can connect
and all
is well. I've so far tried formating the card with the bookport,
removing
the card and putting it back in the unit, and the fix errors for card
from
the bookport software.

I do have an external card reader besides the book port its self. Any

suggestions short of sending it back to aph?

Thanks.

Steve
