[bookport] file transfer

This is only a part book port question but someone here may have a good idea
or two. I have some files that were scanned with openbook that I would like
to transfer to the bookport. I presume they need to be converted to another
format prior to transfer. Does any particular format give me any advantages
as to page navigation etc? I can easily enough cut copy and paste but I
suspect that may not be the best option.
