You need to have your regional library sign you up for the NLS Web-Braille service. Contact your regional library staff and tell them you're interested and they can take it from there. Until you've been registered, you can't access the site, as it requires a login ID and password. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Nuttall" <jnuttallphd@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, November 22, 2004 4:06 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: bookport and nls magazines Hello Dave: I'm assuming that one can go to the NLS web site and download braille magazines to be read by the Book Port. I've gone to the National Library Service web site. I don't find where one would download a magazine. Can you give me some directions on this? When you send the OPF file to bookport, the dialogue will open allowing you to specify the range of the magazine you want to transfer, depending on the amount of space available. Just tab through the dialogue and select the range you want, ending with the send button. Your computer will then begin to beep as the book information is compiled and then the file is sent to the bookport. Eventually, you will notice the beeps are rising in pitch. That is letting you know that the file is being sent, and the entire process may take several minutes. When you have transferred the magazine through this process, all navigation features will work well for you. Cheers, Dave
