Hi Simon: Some of these issues are software related. We do not support files any lower than what you are trying to play. As for the switching files problem, this is due to too many files in a particular folder. It could also happen if you have too many files in your root folder. However, since you mention playing MP3 files, then it's probably a particular folder. Try deleting some of the files in that folder or moving them to a different one and the problem should go away. If the problem persists, then you'll need to reformat the card. Some generic brands of batteries are shaped differently, so that could explain the problem. Another possibility is that your contacts are bent and don't make connection. However, if a certain brand works all of the time, it is probably not that. Your Headphone Jack could be dirty, or it could be pushed in, which can happen over time, especially if your headphones have heavy plugs on them, or if you carry it in a case, with the headphones plugged in. If you want to have that repaired, the fee is $65. I have a couple of problems. FIrstly, when I try to load certain mp3 files with quality below 16k, they don't play properly, or I just hear silence. Secondly, when I have a lot of files in one folder, or even just on the bookport, I have major issues switching files. They seem to take three or four seconds to properly stop and allow me to switch files. Thirdly, it seems to be really picky about what kind of batteries it will hold. For example, duracells work jsut fine, while some types of energizers will not. Ni-MH batteries usually will not work. In the case of batteries not working, the bookport just sits there and does nothing at all, as if the batteries are not properly making contact or something. ANd lastly, the headphone hole has been cutting out whenever I move in a certain direction, and I think it has some kind o fdirt or something inside it. Can anyone suggest the best way to remove that? If I need to send this in for repairs, I will wait until I get my DS50, which can also be an mp3 player, and send it in, as I sort of need the bookport at the moment. Simon
