[bookport] Transferring .rtf and .htm files

I am a new BP user. I have no problem transferring .txt files from my pc
to the BP.
However, when I attempt to send either a .rtf or .htm file, my pc insists
on attempting to open a demo unregistered version of Microsoft Office that
happens to be a part of my pc.
How do I get around this problem as I prefer not using the 60-day demo at
this time nor purchasing the MicroSoft Office suite?
