It sounds like that should have worked. I don't know that we've tested sending a book that consisted of "wav" files to the BP but we will for sure. Thanks. Keith >>> tim@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 09/11/06 09:58AM >>> Re VBR MP3 files and inaccurate BP playback of phrase boundaries: I produced the DAISY book using the Plextalk PTR2, and recorded each phrase/section in wave format. I used the PTR2's PC software to finalise the DAISY book, retaining wave file format, which I then sent across to the Bookport with BP Transfer. So, while BP Transfer may have MP3'd the files, they should have been in wave for each stage of the process prior to transfer. The current DAISY book is made up of personal affirmations/notes, but - if it would be of help - I could create a sample book, using similar processes, and send it for analysis. That would result in the time offsets being inaccurate, which in tern would result in such things as playback not starting exactly on the phrase boundry or the last bit of a file not being played. VBR files should never be used for DAISY books because they depend on time offsets. Keith >>> tim@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 09/08/06 07:47PM >>> I wonder if its something about the lengths of audio files. I have a short DAISY book, originally based on about 40 wave files. The files each last from 3 to 8 seconds in length. When I play it from start to finish, its fine, but when I move by phrase (each file appears as a phrase when I press 1 or 3) I either get some files not playing to completion, or sometimes I hear the first half second of the subsequent item. Not sure if these problems are related, and if it's a problem with the precision of the Bookport Audio hardware when starting and stopping playback of recorded audio.
